The Versailles Palace

The Versailles Palace, situated some 20 kilometers southern from Paris, France is one of the most spectacular places to visit. Thousands of tourists weekly travel to the suburb of France just to see the magnificent building – famous for its history and architecture, this place has become a major tourist destination in France and the whole of Western Europe.

The external view of Versailles is quite magnificent and reminds people of the rich French culture during the modernism. The architecture of the building combines several styles ( baroque and neoclassicism ) with the typical Westen European architectural specifications of that time ( the narrow columns of the stores, the thin prolonged windows, the golden ornamentation and the grey and yellow colours can be also observed in the UK palaces and across Germany and Spain ). This attracts not only the tourists from across the world but also many architects and architercture students who would carefully study the unique exterior of the building.

The interior of the building is hard to describe – the influences of the different ages of use of the palace have contributed differently to its interior. The rich galleries however can be recognised as a heriage of the wealth Napoleon expansions since they contain spectacular pieces of work from across Europe and remind the tourists about the Imperial times of France. The furnishings for each room are exquisite, from a simple chest of drawers to an ornate French bed. The suites and the open places in the palace also contribute for the overall experience of the visitors – the richly decorated walls and the glamorous furniture are just another piece of art that deserves your attention and would make your Versailles exploration unforgettable.

These reasons are just a bit from what can be said about the Palace – truely a fascinating and beautiful place, it is a recommendable place to visit in France and one of the most beautiful constructions of the neoclassical and baroque architecture.
